haven’t posted lately because i’ve been working on this!  i’ve had bootleg mio (k-on!) and miku nendoroids (some bought on accident, some received as gifts) and i didn’t know what to do with them, so i decided to try modding them into my mascot!  i even tried painting the face but it came out really terribly so i’m just using the bootleg ones;;  this definitely took way longer than i thought for something so simple, but overall, i’m content with the result and will gladly move on to other things ;u;;;

On September Scanlations

Referring to this entry:

So apparently, September Scanlations has been scanning doujinshi without the consent of the artists (even going as far as blocking Japanese IPs to prevent getting caught) and when people report this to the artists (who are clearly unhappy), they play the victims.  Right.

Wow, this is some of the most entitled bullshit I’ve ever seen. So some people rightfully notify artists that their works are being shared without their permission or compensation, and they and the artists are the ones to blame? There’s a difference between scanlating for well-known mangakas working for large companies and scanlating the works of independent artists without their permission. Independent artists (people who make doujin) do not have the backing that companies have and thus, only have the little money they make from selling doujinshi. Something that an artist spent their time to make and sell for money is being edited and shared online for free without their knowledge or consent; there’s clearly something wrong with that.

SS could’ve also asked the artists for their permission to share and translate their works. Not all of them would consent, but many of them would and then they would be able to share their works while the artist still rightfully has control over what they made. Instead, SS does it without permission and when caught, they act like the victim and blame those who reported them and the artists for wanting control over their own work.

Yea SS translates doujins, but the doujins wouldn’t even exist without the artists who drew them in the first place, so the artists (the rightful owners of the works), not the fans or readers, are the ones who get the say in how their work is edited and shared.

Sorry guys, I usually like keeping this blog for art/life stuff only, but I’m reblogigng this from my sideblog because this whole situation is really infuriating and I think it’d be best if more people knew about it.

saw a movie with some friends and then bought some clothes;; should really be spending less on clothing but everything was on sale orz;;;
